Rose Barron Obituary

Rose K. (Sokowaski) Barron, 87, of 446 Douglas St. formerly of 281 Henry St., died Wed., Sept. 3 at home after an illness. Her husband, Raymond E. Barron Sr. died Sept. 12, 2001. She is survived by a son, Raymond E. Jr. and his wife Maureen Barron of Uxbridge; 2 daughters: Barbara A. and her husband Jerry Lambert of Uxbridge with whom she lived and Linda M. Brothers of Uxbridge; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. She was the sister of the late John Sokowaski, Mary Defonsico, and Victoria Gaulin. Born in Woonsocket on Oct. 5, 1920, she was the daughter of Frank and Mary (Koval) Sokowaski and lived in Uxbridge 64 years.

Mrs. Barron was primarily a homemaker but worked several years for the Cotton Mill in Blackstone and later as a domestic for the Atamian family in Uxbridge. She loved visiting with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed camping and attending polish picnics. She was a member of the N.E. Country and Western Club and enjoyed dancing with her husband, where they received many awards for their dancing and dress. She was a member of St. Mary's Church.

Her funeral will be held Tues., Sept. 9 from Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd. with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 77 Mendon St. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Mon., Sept. 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made to St. Mary's Church, 77 Mendon St., Uxbridge, MA 01569.
