Shirley Direnzo Obituary

Shirley (Hunton) Direnzo, 83, of Worcester, devoted mother and grandmother, passed away Wednesday, September 3rd 2008 in her home surrounded by her family.

Shirley's husband, John Direnzo passed away in 1995. She is survived by her cherished children: John K. Direnzo, Sr. and his wife Rosemarie of Millbury, Sandy L. Quinlan and her husband Mark of Worcester; four adored grandchildren: John K. Direnzo, Jr, Robert M. Direnzo, Scott E. Quinlan and Kerry L Quinlan; many nieces and nephews. Two brothers: Harold and Kenny Hunton, and two sisters: Phyllis and Priscilla Anderson, all predeceased her. Shirley was born in Sutton, April 12th of 1925, a daughter of Paul and Gladys (Donaldson) Hunton and has lived here all her life.

Shirley was a simple and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Her greatest joy, was cooking for her family, caring for them, their company and involvement.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 6th at 10:00 a.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, September 5th. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester 01608.
