Charles Brown Obituary

Charles F. Brown, 77, of Chace Hill Road, died surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 4, 2008, in Kindred Hospital, Leicester.

He leaves his wife of 47 years, Leita M. (McKelvie) Brown; two sons, Scott A. Brown and his wife Teresa (Laliberte) Brown and grandchildren, Crosby and Cassie Brown, of Barre and Keith E. Brown and grandson, Trevor J. Brown of West Brookfield; a brother, Bernard Brown and his wife Nancy of Norwich, NY; sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Catherine and Charles Sweet of Acton, William and Marion McKelvie of Princeton, Myrna and Bob Watjus of Sterling, Brucie and Jackie McKelvie of Littleton, Alan and Brenda McKelvie of So Acton, and Linda and Ken McKelvie of Westford; many nieces and nephews.

He was born in Lebanon, New York and predeceased by parents, Hiram N. and Sarah Anna (McKee) Brown; his brother, Laurence J. Brown and his wife Beulah of Greene, NY and a half-sister, Margaret Nina Bush of South Otselic, NY; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mabel and Arthur McKelvie of South Acton.

He has lived in Sterling for the last 45 years. He was a machinist at George W. Moore in Waltham, retiring 22 years ago. He was a member of the Oakdale United Methodist Church, longtime member of the Sterling Bowling League, and a member of the Central Mass. Genealogy Society of Gardner. He was an avid race car fan and loved to play cards with the men at the Hiram O. Taylor American Legion Post 189 in Sterling.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 7th, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Rd. (Rte. 12), Sterling. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home with burial following in Hillside Cemetery, Sterling.
