George Nasto

George Nasto, 75, of Colonial Dr., died Tuesday, Sept. 9th, in the Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 35 years, Alexandria (Veshia) Nasto; a brother-in-law, Vasil Veshia and his wife Lois of Worcester; a niece, Jennifer and her husband Nicholas Hopley; a great nephew, Maxwell Hopley and a great niece, Julia Hopley. He was predeceased by a brother, Vasca Nasto and a sister Poliksena Lazarou and her husband, Ernest. He was born in Korce, Albania, the son of Rafail and Nunca (Chipa) Nasto. He attended the former Mary E. Wells High School in Southbridge. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.

George worked at the American Optical Co. in Southbridge for 42 years retiring many years ago. He was a devoted member of the St. Michael's Orthodox Church in Southbridge. He was a member of the Quinebaug Masonic Lodge A.F & A.M. in Southbridge. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He enjoyed golfing, cooking, painting and singing.

His funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 12th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Michael's Orthodox Church, Roumanian Ave., Southbridge. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Southbridge. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Sept. 11th, in St. Michael's Orthodox Church from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Michael's Orthodox Church, P.O. Box 823, Southbridge, MA 01550.
