Joan Dick Obituary
She is survived by her children: Denise Bylund of Leicester, with whom she lived, Terri Dick of Auburn, Joe Richards and his wife Laura, of Auburn, Wayne Nicholas, and his wife Sharon of Cary, NC; she leaves her beloved grandchildren: Bryanna Bylund of Leicester, Anthony Richards, Randy Richards, and Aaron Witt, of Auburn, and Benjamin and Samuel Nicholas, of Cary, NC.
She is predeceased by her brother James, and her long-time companion and love, Michael McCarthy.
She enjoyed bingo, lottery, dining out, and travelling with Mike, and spending time with her grandchildren, and watching the Red Sox and Patriots.
She enjoyed figure skating, and bowling. She previously coached softball.
She was born in Worcester, and was the daughter of the late Nicholas J. and Irene C. (Barriere) Colaizzi.
Joan worked for many years as an assessor for the Town of Auburn, retiring in 2001.
She was a member of Saint Joseph's Church in Auburn, the Worcester County Assessors Association, and the Massachusetts Assessors Association.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-7 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St. Auburn. Her funeral will be held Wednesday from the funeral home with a Mass celebrated at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford Street, north, Auburn. Burial plans are private.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 5005 LBJ Fwy., Suite. 250, Dallas, TX 75244 OR to Auburn Youth and Family Services: 21 Pheasant Ct. Auburn, MA 01501.
