Stanley Tomyl Obituary

Stanley A. Tomyl, 59, of Kailua-Kona, HI, died on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at his home, after a brief illness.

He is survived by his wife Linda (Provencial) Tomyl; two daughters, Julia Provencial of Gardner; and Sara Stroman and her husband Art of Rocky Point, NC; two grandsons, Michael and Dylan Stroman. He also leaves three sisters; Sister Constance Marie, CSSF, of Enfield, CT; Joanne Tomyl of Wilton, NH; and Julie Ann Tomyl of Clinton; sisters and brother-in-law, Doreen Cuddy, Rich and Nancy Seguin of Fitchburg; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends.

Stan was born in Clinton to the late Anthony and Sophie (Kowalczyk) Tomyl. He attended St. Mary School and was a graduate of the Clinton High School Class of 1967. He obtained an Associate degree in Engineering Technology from Mt. Wachusett Community College. Stan proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War having attained the rank of SP 4. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service. On September 15, 1984 he married Linda Provencial, and in 1988 they moved to Hawaii, where they have resided for the past twenty years. Stan was most recently employed as a CADD operator for Hokuli'a in Kona. He was a member of St. Peter Chanel Church in Hilo and their Legion of Mary. He was an avid ham radio operator and a member of the International Association for Radio Telecommunications and Electromagnetics. Stan held membership with the American Radio Relay League and the VFW.

A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Thursday, September 18, 2008 in the chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon. Calling hours are to be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 from 6 until 8PM in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton.
