Wilbrod Lafontaine Obituary

Mr. Wilbrod C. Lafontaine, 89, formerly of First St., died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008 in Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam. Born March 17, 1919 in Thompson, CT, he was the son of the late Charles and Alexina (LaFlamme) Lafontaine. Mr. Lafontaine was the husband of Stella (Fournier) Lafontaine.

Mr. Lafontaine worked as bakery foreman for Superior Bakery. He served in the US Army during World War II, and was a member of the American Legion Post 67 and the VFW Post 10088. Wilbrod was a "jack-of-all trades" who enjoyed woodworking and fixing cars.

In addition to his wife, Wilbrod is survived by two sons, Normand Lafontaine of Pelham, NH and Jean Lafontaine of N. Grosvenordale, CT; his sister, Therese Notis of Putnam, CT; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Charles Lafontaine.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit with Wilbrod's family on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale, CT. A gathering will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 in the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church. Burial with Military Honors in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to St. Joseph's Church.
