Anne Mazur Obituary

Anne R. Mazur, 81, of 629 Salisbury St., formerly of Westborough, died Sunday Sept. 14, 2008 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, 55 Lake Ave North.

She leaves two nieces, Sharon Maher of Worcester and Marcia Handy of El Paso, Tx., a nephew, Thomas Ruszala of Seattle, Wa., and several grand nieces and grand nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Veronica Ruszala. She was born and raised in Worcester, a daughter of Michael and Anna (Darmofal) Mazur.

Ms. Mazur was a school teacher and taught in Shrewsbury and San Francisco for several years. She then taught in the Auburn School system for 33 years mostly at Auburn Middle School. She retired in 1999. Anne received her bachelors degree and masters degree from Clark University. She was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church.

The funeral will be held on Thursday Sept. 18 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St, with a Mass at 12:00 NOON in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. 34 Ward St. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesday Sept. 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

She was my English teacher back in the late 70's. She pushed us to read more challenging books and write better reports. She did all of this while still remaining your friend. A true class act

I had Miss Mazur for a teacher when I attended Pakachoag School in Auburn. I always thought she was beautiful and dressed like a princess.
