John and Elsa were warm, wonderful people. When I was a young woman, just out of college in Worcester in the early eighties, it was always a treat to be invited to their home on William Street during the holidays. A houseful of friends of all ages would sing carols accompanied by John on the concertina. Or Elsa would invite me to tea, feed me scrumptious treats and dispense good advice. I have strived ever since to be as gracious a hostess as Elsa, and as fun-loving as John. They were irreplaceable, and will always have a cherished place in my memory.
