Charles Grassel Obituary

Charles G. Grassel, 60, of Worcester died peacefully Sunday September 14, 2008 in the UMASS Medical Center surrounded by his family. Charlie is survived by a loving brother and sister: Thomas N. Grassel Jr. of Worcester, and Melissa (Grassel) White and her husband Nick of Pembroke Pines. Florida; two nieces and a great nephew. Charles was born in Worcester son of the late Thomas N Grassel Sr. and Floy E. (Bates) Grassel and was a graduate of North High School. Charles lived in Florida for many years before returning to Worcester.

Charlie worked for the William A. Berry Construction Company of Danvers for the past ten years and was a long time member of the Laborer's International Union # 243 for many years. Charlie enjoyed life and making the occasional wager on sporting events and horse races. He will be dearly missed.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dan and the entire nursing staff, the PCAs and the Doctors on the oncology team at UMASS Memorial University Campus. Please know the family appreciates your kindness and compassion.

Calling hours, celebrating Charlie's life will be held Saturday September 20, 2008 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 2141 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 7000, El Segundo, CA 90245 or via a secure online donation site; www.firstgiving.

Melissa and Tommy, You don't really know me but Charlie was a great neighbor and an incredible friend to me and so many of my friends.
