Dorothy McHugh Obituary

Dorothy J. (Sargentelli) McHugh, 73, of Worcester, died Monday, September 15, 2008 in Saint Vincent Hospital.

She leaves her beloved children, four sons, John McHugh and his wife Linda, Steven McHugh, Edward McHugh and Robert McHugh all of Worcester, a daughter, Theresa Lemerise and her husband Daniel of Worcester; three brothers, John, Peter and Paul Sargentelli all from Worcester; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was born in Worcester on August 29, 1935, daughter of the late John and Mollie (Pietro) Sargentelli and has lived in Worcester for all of her life. She worked for the former Heywood Valley Nursing Home until retirement. She was a woman of Christian faith, belonging to Saint Stephen's Church. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and friend. She was the foundation of her family. To her, family was everything and those special times were her joy.

Dorothy's funeral will be held Thursday, September 18th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Stephen Church, 357 Grafton St. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour, in the funeral home, will be held from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM prior to her funeral MASS. To share your thoughts and memories of Dorothy, please visit her personal guestbook at:

Dear Jack & Linda, Steve, Eddie, Bobby, Theresa, and all the grandchildren,

I was so saddened to hear of your loss. It is a very difficult thing to go through.
Always remember that Strength & Faith in God was always at her side; that is a gift your Mum has given you. She will always be watching over you all from Heaven. Your Mum will be with you forever. She loved you so much-that will never, ever change.

I had the privilege of working with your Mom at Heywood Valley N.H over 25 years ago. Dottie's quiet and unassuming manner made her a real pleasure to work with everyday. She was always easy going, pleasant and willing to help out.
