Victoria O'Neil Obituary

Victoria Agnes (Piejko) O'Neil, 94, died surrounded by her loving family on September 16, 2008.

Her devoted husband of 67 years, William C. O'Neil, predeceased her last year. She leaves her son, William and his wife Charlotte of Oak Ridge, TN; her daughter, Marilyn O'Neil Tormey and husband Gregory of Worcester; three granddaughters, Christine Merrow and husband Steve, Nancy Taylor and husband Ronald, Megan O'Neil; and grandson, Sean O'Neil and wife April. In addition, she leaves her great granddaughters: Sarah Connors, Careena Connors, India Daughney and great grandsons: Ronald Taylor, Jr., Connor O'Neil, and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by sister Amelia Fill and predeceased by 9 other siblings: brothers, Jan, Edward, Walter, Thomas, and Chester Piejko; sisters, Marie Burns, Nellie Lugas, Agnes Paneck, and Sofia Schipp.

Growing up as one of 11 children of immigrants, she never forgot the hard and great times that brought them so close together. A native of South Deerfield, MA, she lived in Worcester since 1939. During the Great Depression, she met her husband William, while both were working at the North Hampton State Hospital. An active athlete, she excelled in tennis, basketball and volleyball, and enjoyed bicycling on Cape Cod well into her 70's. Her working career included retail sales at Denholm & McKay and the original Filene's on Main St. where she was in charge of the Men's Dept. She then spent 24 years as a certified Medical Secretary for Dr. Joseph Murphy where she loved working with and helping patients on a daily basis, making many lifelong friends. For over 45 years she has been keeping up 2 homes including the one in Dennisport, MA on Cape Cod.

She was an active parishioner of Christ the King Church for 60 years, which she attended until this past week. Her strong Catholic faith was a guiding force throughout her life. Her great energy, warmth, kindness and devotion to family and friends made her loved by those of the many generations who knew her.
