Barbara Warren Obituary

Barbara C. (Wright) Warren, a resident of Barre, Massachusetts, passed away on September 14, 2008. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Frank A. and Albina M. (Clement) Wright, and lived there until moving to Barre in 1983. Her husband, George H. Warren, passed away in 1985. She leaves a son, Bradley C. Warren, and his wife, Heather; a daughter, Melinda W. Cheney, and her husband, Robin; a granddaughter, Amy H. Warren; and a grandson, Jesse B. Warren. She was predeceased by a brother, Morton M. Wright.

Mrs. Warren was a graduate of Commerce High School and was employed by Clark University, the Paul Revere Insurance Company, the Worcester Youth Guidance Center, and retired from the Guidance Department at Forest Grove Junior High School.

In her youth she enjoyed skiing, skeet shooting, and summering in Prescott, Massachusetts and Pigeon Cove, Rockport, Massachusetts. She was a member of Girl Scout Troop 10, which held annual reunions for approximately 60 years. Mrs. Warren was a 66-year member of Stella Chapter No. 3, O.E.S. of Auburn and was a Past Matron, Deputy Grand Matron, and Deputy Grand Marshal, as well as being an Honorary Member of Cradle Rock Chapter No. 125, O.E.S. in Barre. She was a past Treasurer of the Barre Woman's Club and was currently Treasurer of the No. 4 Schoolhouse, Inc. Mrs. Warren also volunteered one day a week at the Barre Senior Center. Other organizations she belonged to were the Barre and Petersham Historical Societies, Petersham Grange, Thacher Island Association, and the World Wildlife Fund.

Mrs. Warren was an active member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Worcester for many years. She subsequently attended and was active in Bethany Christian United Parish of Worcester and the Orthodox Congregational Church of Petersham.

She had a deep love for her family and was loved by them and enjoyed reading, needlework, genealogy, birdwatching (including the bear, porcupines, and raccoon which often visited her bird feeders), many walks in the woods, horseback riding, and many trips to Cape Ann. She had a wonderful sense of humor and the ability to make people laugh and brought laughter and happiness to many.

The funeral will be private. Burial is to follow in Pepperell, Massachusetts.

Caswell - King Funeral Home, 474 Grove Street, Worcester, Massachusetts is directing the arrangements.
