Darlene Mastrogiovanni Obituary

Darlene D. "Nana" (Anderson) Mastrogiovanni, 90, of Grafton St., died Wednesday, September 17th in UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester.

Her beloved husband of 62 years, Joseph A. Mastrogiovanni died in 2002.

She leaves her son, Fredrick Mastrogiovanni and his wife Joan of Pittsfield; her daughter, P. Jolene Havalotti of New Braintree; her step-sister, Meridee Bassett and her husband Ralph of Dearborn, MI; her five grandchildren, Kimberly Bruce and her husband Paul, Fredrick Mastrogiovanni, Jr. and his wife Cindy, Paige M. Torrey and her husband Tim, Joel E. Havalotti, and Justin Havalotti and his wife Angela; her eight great grandchildren, Conor, Anthony, Katerina, Hailey, Makayla, Audreanna, Joseph and Dominic; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Eurada Lockett on August 14th. She was born in Madrid, Iowa, daughter of the late Fredrick and Esther (Wileen) Anderson and has lived here for many years.

A longtime homemaker, Mrs. Mastrogiovanni also had worked for the former GE Telechron Co., and later for the former Bradlees Stores in the flower department. She was a charter member of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church and had also attended the Fairlawn Methodist Church, where she was active with its Ladies Aid Group. Nana Dee Dee as she was fondly called by all of her great-grandchildren shared a long time love of camping in the "beach buggy", gardening and sharing the yard swing with her husband. Nana's specialty dishes of macaroni cheese, made from scratch pound cake and her strawberry rhubarb jelly always won her the highest of praises!
