Edwin Kus' Obituary

Edwin J. Kus', age 74, of 19 Upper Gore Road, died Thursday, September 18, 2008 at home.

He leaves his wife of 55 years, Rita L. (Stelmach) Kus' of Webster; two sons, Glenn and his wife Susan of Port Charlotte, FL, Edward and his wife Mary; two daughters, Jayne Hinchliffe and her husband Russell, Rae Kus'-Young and her husband Allan, all of Webster; 8 grandchildren, Janna Sutton of Danielson, CT, Eric Hinchliffe of Dudley, Kalyn & Kelsey Hinchliffe, Edward Jr. and Katherine Kus', Cameron and Spencer Young, all of Webster. He also leaves a step-granddaughter, Jaclyn Hinchliffe of Cape Cod; a great-grandson Evan and a great-grandchild on the way; a sister, Helen Laganelli of Worcester. He is predeceased by 3 brothers, Emil, Theodore and Chester Kus' and by 2 sisters, Mary Milas and Jennie Jurgelewicz.

He was born in Webster, son of the late Anthony and Stefania (Ujak) Kus' and lived here all his life. He was the building inspector for the Town of Webster and Oxford and had previously owned and operated K & S Builders from 1964 to 1976. He was a Korean War, U.S. Marine Corps. Veteran. He was a member of the Elks #1466 and the Booster A.C. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. Ed loved taking care of his garden and enjoyed bird watching, especially bluebirds. Above all, Ed loved his family and will be missed most dearly by all who knew him.

A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 22, 2008, at 10:00 am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, East Main Street, Webster. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 or Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster is directing arrangements.

I know how it is to lose someone, and I know how how Cam (Mr. Kus's Grandson) feels right now, we both have lost our two grandfathers, anyway, I didn't know Mr. Kus that well, but I could tell that he was a good man, my condolences go to the Kus and Young family, and he will be missed, R.I.P.

What a loss for Webster. Ed was such an honest guy who refused to give in to corrupt politicians. Ed always did the right thing regardless of who was asking him for a permit. A genuinely nice guy.
