Marie Bernard Obituary

Marie Irene (LeBlanc) Bernard, 85, died Tuesday, September 23 at the Golden Living Center in Fitchburg.

Mrs. Bernard was born in Fitchburg, April 6, 1923 a daughter of Honore' and Margaret (Arsenault) LeBlanc and had resided in Fitchburg for many years. Mrs. Bernard also lived in Winchendon and Ashburnham.

Mrs. Bernard was the wife of the late Leo Paul Bernard for 52 years who died in 1995.

Mrs. Bernard is survived by two sons and a daughter in law, Rene V. and Susan Bernard of Fitchburg, Alfred A. Bernard of Fitchburg; two daughters and a son in law, Susan M. Bernard and her partner Donna Hamilton of Woburn, Donna M. and Stephen Caravella of Fitchburg; one brother, Alfred LeBlanc of Fitchburg; six grandchildren, Jessica Elliot, Kenneth Bernard, Nick Caravella, Stephanie Caravella, Aimee St. Jean, Anthony Caravella; step grandchild, Bill Jenkins and his wife Candace; six great grandchildren, Connor Elliot, Lindsey Elliot, Jaden Jenkins, Alexa Jenkins, Becky St. Jean, J.T. St. Jean and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Bernard was the mother of the late Paulette A. Gronroos who died in 2004.

Mrs. Bernard is predeceased by five brothers: Clarence LeBlanc, Edgar LeBlanc, Hector LeBlanc, Norman LeBlanc, and Edward LeBlanc; two sisters: Rita Girard and Lorraine Miller.

Mrs. Bernard worked for 18 years at the Rendezvous Restaurant in Fitchburg as a short order cook.

Mrs. Bernard was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Fitchburg. She also enjoyed bingo and cards.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m Saturday, September 27 at St. Joseph's Church, 49 Woodland Street, Fitchburg. Burial will be in parish cemetery. Louis M. Isabelle Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon Street, Fitchburg.
