Joyce Kendall Obituary

Joyce A. (Tatro) Kendall, 75, of 20 Cedar Street, Winchendon, a former public servant for the Town of Winchendon, died peacefully Saturday afternoon, September 27th, surrounded by her loving family, in the Baldwinville Nursing Home.

She was born in Winchendon on November 24,1932, the daughter of Ernest J. and Irma M. (Rice) Tatro and was a lifelong resident of Winchendon.

Joyce was the Assistant Town Clerk for the Town on Winchendon for 22 years. She retired in 1994. Previously she was the Board of Health Agent for the town for 14 years. For many years, Joyce was also a poll worker for elections.

Active in community affairs, Joyce was a member of the Winchendon Golden Age Club and a member and former Sgt. of Arms of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion. She was also a member of the Winchendon Housing Authority and Ladies Auxiliary of the Lt. Frederick Wilder White Post 2158 VFW. For several years, Joyce wintered in Cape Coral, Florida. She loved to read and make Swedish weaving blankets.

Her husband of 22 years, Francis S. Kendall, died in 1972. Joyce leaves a daughter, Ardythe E. Bilodeau and her husband David M. of Winchendon; four grandchildren, Jesse Kendall, Joseph Kendall, Cassandra Cutting and Francine Porter; a great grandson, Anthony Kendall, as well as three nephews and three nieces. She was also predeceased by a son, William J. Kendall; a brother, John E. Tatro; a sister, Carol E. Greenwood, who died on September 21st and her long-time companion, Francis "Peter" Mantia.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 3rd at 11 A.M. in the Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Robert Johansen will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Winchendon.

Calling hours in the funeral home will be Thursday, October 2nd from 6 to 8 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Residents Activities Fund, Baldwinville Nursing Home, P.O. Box 24, Baldwinville, MA. 01436.
