Alice Hiller Obituary

Alice C. Hiller, 92, of 5 Colonial Dr., Westborough, died peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2008 in the Westborough Healthcare Center.

Her husband of 43 years, Henry F. Hiller, Jr., died in 1980. She leaves two sons, Henry F. Hiller III and his wife Smiley of Durham, CT, and Thomas C. Hiller and his wife Ruth of Paxton; a daughter, Karen A. Manning and her husband Ted of Lancaster; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A daughter, Gretchen Johnson, died in 1992. Three brothers, Raymond, William and Nathan Chase, predeceased her. She was born on February 9, 1916 in Thompson, Connecticut, daughter of William E. and Ruth (Erickson) Chase, and lived in West Boylston for over 60 years. She was a graduate of North High School.

Mrs. Hiller was a member of the First Congregational Church of West Boylston, its Women's Club and volunteered in the Thrift Shop. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed gardening in her greenhouse, knitting and braiding rugs.

A private graveside service will be held at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of West Boylston, 26 Central St., West Boylston, MA 01583; or Evercare Hospice & Palliative Care, 950 Winter St., Waltham, MA 02451. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden is directing arrangements.
