George Magrath Obituary
Dr. Magrath leaves his two sons: Richard and his wife, Willene Magrath of Georgia, and Douglas and his wife, Linda Magrath of Berlin; his sister, Ellen B. (Nellie) Magrath of Whitinsville, MA; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his son, George Magrath Jr., and three sisters: Edith Rankin, Helen R. Magrath, and Olive Burgoyne.
Dr. Magrath graduated from Northbridge High (in Whitinsville, MA) in 1930 and from Dartmouth College in 1934. He went on to obtain his Master and Doctorate degrees. Dr. Magrath had been the Superintendent of Meriden Schools for 19 years until his retirement in 1974. He was always very active in the Meriden community and is a Meriden Hall of Fame Member. George has always been sports oriented, and was an avid Red Sox Baseball and UCONN Basketball fan. For those who knew him, he will be truly missed.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. George Magrath. He was my principal at Meriden High School in the 1950`s, and he attended all of our Reunions including our 50th in 2004.
Dr. Magrath had a great gift for remembering names (Maiden and Marriage) and we always looked foward to seeing him at the Reunions.
My deepest condolences to the Magrath Family, may Dr.Magrath`s soul rest in God`s eternal peace!
