Arlyne E. Dowey

Arlyne E. (Bailey) Dowey, 89, of Atlantic Shores, VA, formerly of Hudson, died Friday, Sept. 26 at the Seaside Healthcare Center in Virginia Beach, VA. She was the widow of William Bastow who died in 1974 and is survived by her beloved husband of 30 years, Thomas E. Dowey of Atlantic Shores, VA. She was born in Northboro, daughter of the late Charles and Ellen Margaret (Ellsworth) Bailey and resided in Hudson for many years until moving to Virginia in 1976. She was a former employee of the Raytheon Corp. in Sudbury and was a waitress for many years at the Marlboro Country Club. She was a retired employee of Wachovia Bank in Virginia Beach, VA. She was a former member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church of Hudson and was currently a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Virginia. She was also a member of the Boston Doll Club of America, Norfolk Doll Club in Virginia and was the founder of the Precious Memories Doll Club of Virginia Beach.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Donna E. Murphy and husband Dan of Virginia Beach, VA, Pamela Wilson and husband David of Oxford; a son, Bryan D. Bastow and wife Helen of Naples, FL; 8 grandchildren: Darra Sansom, Daneen Doughtie, Dreann Holt, Kimberly Rossi, Kelly MacGregor, Rebecca Donahue, Bradley Bastow, Bonnie Leon; 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She is also survived by her step-children: Darlene Dowey of Connecticut, Ellen Dowey of Waltham and Thomas F. Dowey of Sudbury.

A funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 3 at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Luke's Church, 5 Washington St., Hudson. Burial will follow in the Howard Street Cemetery in Northboro. Family and friends may attend a calling hour from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2 at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc., 50 Central St., Hudson, MA 01749 (www.tighehamilton.com).
