Donald Ashley Obituary

Donald T. Ashley, 63, of Worcester passed away, in his home, on October 3, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He leaves his loving and devoted wife, Virginia (Dyer) Ashley, his daughter Dorothy and her husband Douglas Hatch of Grafton; his two sons, Donald and Derek Ashley of Worcester; seven grandchildren, Michael, Olivia, Kayla, Abigail, Nicholas, Celia and Briley; a sister, Susan Allmon of Orleans and a dear and devoted family friend Jane Aubin of Worcester and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two half-brothers, Richard and Roland Huberdault, a stepson Robert Landroche and a grandson Nathaniel Ashley.

Don was born in Worcester, son of Thomas and Lillian (Mason) Ashley. He graduated from South High School in 1963. Shortly after, he joined the U.S. Navy Submarine Force. After serving his country, he worked several years for Liberty Construction. Donald loved his country and his American Flag; which he flew everyday. He loved his cookouts with his family and friends. He also loved the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.

Don will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He will be in our hearts forever.

In accordance with Don's wishes, he was cremated and a Graveside Service will be held Friday, October 10th at 10:00 AM in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton, MA, Valor I section. Donations to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West 6th floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226; Attn: Contribution Services in memory of Donald would be greatly appreciated. Virginia,
I was very sad to read about Donald. I'm sure we have never met, but I am Donald's half brother Roland's daughter. I have few memories of my uncle, but they are all very fond. My deepest sympathy to you and yours.
Fondly,
Karrie Nason
