Ruth Buffone Obituary

Ruth I. (LaCava) Buffone, 85, of Appleton, Wisconsin, formerly of Worcester, passed away October 29th, 2008, in the Hospice at Cherry Meadows in Appleton, Wisconsin. Ruth was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Peter P. Buffone in May 2000.

She is survived by her son, Peter M. Buffone and his wife Valerie of Millbury; a daughter, Patricia Van Hoof-Wittmann and her husband Hugo of Sherwood, Wisconsin; a sister, Elsie M. McCarl of Millbury; two grandchildren: Jennifer A. Buffone of Worcester and Jason A. Van Hoof of Chicago, Illinois; two great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a grandson, Steven Peter VanHoof, as well as two sisters: Helena Nordstrom and Evelyn Scirpoli. Ruth was born in Worcester, daughter of Augustus and Emelda (LaMonte) LaCava. Ruth also leaves her good friend and caregiver, Mary Schoettler, who provided her compassion, friendship and comfort during her final years.

Ruth worked in the finance department of Melville Shoe in Worcester, and had also been Vice President and Treasurer of Peter Buffone Television and Radio, for over forty years. She was a member of Our Lady of Loreto and Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann, and was active in the Women's Guild at Our Lady of Loreto.

Per Ruth's request, services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Worcester Chapter of The American Red Cross, 2000 Century Drive, West Boylston, MA 01583. MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, Worcester.
