Carroll Whiting Obituary

Carroll W. " Whitey " Whiting passed away November 2, 2008 after recent illness. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Rita M. ( Jones ) Wooten Whiting, one daughter, Laurie Albitz and her husband Lee of Huntington MA, two step children, Jim Wooten, his wife Kim, Wendy Evans, her husband Brian all of Grafton; Eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one brother, G. Richard Whiting of Phoenix AZ, three sisters, Pauline Rogers of Orange, Anne Wakefield of Belmont NH, Betty Wynne of Grand Prairie TX and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Roland G. and Hazel (MacKenzie) Whiting and two brothers, David and Leland Whiting both of NH. Mr. Whiting was born in Tamworth NH, raised there and has lived in Grafton over 25 years. Whitey was an over the road tractor trailer truck driver with Washington Mills Electro Minerals Corp. in North Grafton for 23 years retiring in 1985. During his career he logged over one million miles in all 48 states and was known nationally by his CB handle of " Ever Ready ". He was a World War II veteran serving in The US Army in the European Theatre with The 1259th Combat Engineers. He re enlisted the day following his discharge in 1945 and served his country again until 1949 in the regular army. Whitey loved to fish with friends on Lake Ontario and with The Quabbin Anglers Club at the Quabbin resevoir. Whitey knew people and had friends all across the United States all 50 of which he had been in, who will miss his humor and knowledge. Memorial donations may be made in his name to The Grafton Food Bank, 30 Providence Road, Grafton MA 01519 in lieu of flowers.

Funeral & Calling Hours

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Whitey Wednesday November 5th at 11 am in St. Philip's Roman Catholic Church, corner of Church & West St. in Grafton Center. All attending the mass Wednesday are respectfully asked to go directly to the church. He will then be cremated and laid to rest in St. Philip's Cemetery in accordance with his wishes. All are invited to calling hours Tuesday November 4th from 5 to 8 pm in The Roney Funeral Home North Chapel, 152 Worcester St. North Grafton. A condolence book may be signed and directions available at:

In Loving Memory: I am home in Heaven, dear ones; Oh, so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty in His everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, every restless tossing passed. I am now at peace forever; safely home in Heaven at last.
