Antoinette Latino Obituary
Antoinette "Plucky" (DeSimone) Latino, 96, of Shrewsbury died peacefully Sunday November 2, 2008 in St. Mary's Healthcare Center. Her husband Pasquale Latino died in 1958. Antoinette is survived by her loving family: a grandson whom she raised as a child, Paul V. Mandella and his wife Beverley of Shrewsbury; three great grandchildren, Anthony Mandella and his wife Kathryn, Paula Mandella and Jenna Mandella of Shrewsbury; two sisters, Italia Lomartire and Frances Tomaiolo and her husband Pasquale "Bucko" both of Worcester; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a daughter, Paula Mandella in 1953, and four brothers, Joseph, Domenic, Louis aand Nicholas, and four sisters. Mary Caputo, Philomena DeSimone, Rose Lavoie and Ann Ugone.
Plucky was born in Worcester daughter of the late Francesco and Maria Giavanna (Marapesse) DeSimone and has lived in Shrewsbury most of her life. She was a graduate of Belmont Prepatory School, and worked as a supervisor at the B.S.G. Sportswear Manufacturing Company for many years before she retired. Antoinette was a former member of St Anne's Church and Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church, and the Shrewsbury Senior Citizens Club. She loved to bake, and cook, but mostly she enjoyed being with her family. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Antoinette's funeral will be held Wednesday November 5, from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11 AM in Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church, 24 Mulberry St. A calling hour will be held from 9 AM to 10:30 AM in the funeral home prior to leaving for church. Interment will be in St John's Cemetery. In lieu of Flowers contributions may be made to St. Mary's Healthcare, 39 Queen St. Patient Activity Fund, Worcester, Ma. 01610. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary's for their kindness and compassion given to Plucky and her family during her stay there.
