Oscar Jacobson Obituary

Oscar M. Jacobson, age 89, formerly of 9 Dudley Hill Road, died Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at Sterling Health Care Center, Sterling, MA.

He leaves his wife of 63 years, Florence S. (Piekarczyk) Jacobson of Sterling, formerly of Dudley; two daughters: Cindy J. Jacobson of Boylston, Nancy M. Williams and her husband David of Amherst, NH; a sister, Laura Bryda of Missouri. He was predeceased by a son, Roy M. Jacobson, and by a brother, Carl Jacobson of Webster.

Oscar was born in Lowell, MA, son of the late Sigurd and Mary (Englebretsen) Jacobson and lived in Dudley most of his life. He was a retired inspector having worked many years at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft.

Oscar was a United States Navy Veteran, and was a Pearl Harbor survivor of World War II. He was a member of the U.S.S Salt Lake City Association and the Zion Lutheran Church in Oxford. He enjoyed woodworking.

The funeral for Oscar will be held on Friday, November 7, 2008, from the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster with a service at 10:00 a.m in the Zion Lutheran Church, Worcester Road, Oxford. Burial, with full military honors, will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Webster. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, November 6, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, Worcester Road, Oxford, MA 01540.
