Eleanor Cogswell Obituary

Eleanor M. Cogswell, 88, of Northborough, formerly of Clinton, Old Orchard Beach, ME, and Englewood, FL, died Monday, November 3, 2008 after a long illness.

She is survived by her sister, Geraldine Dyment of Northborough; a brother, Richard and his wife, Marian Cogswell of Spencer, MA; a nephew, Edward Dyment of Manchester, CT; two nieces, Maura Dolan of Westborough, and Pamela Velazquez of Worcester. A brother, Edward Cogswell of Clinton, predeceased her.

Eleanor was born and raised in Clinton, the daughter of Clarence and Anne (O'Toole) Cogswell. She was a graduate of Clinton High School, Class of 1937, the Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene, and earned a Masters degree in Education from Boston University.

A dental hygienist for over twenty years, Eleanor later taught for several years in the Dental Assistant Program at Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School in Fitchburg, and at Minuteman High School in Lexington before her retirement.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Clinton, and a former member of St. Margaret's Church in Old Orchard Beach, ME.

Eleanor loved spending time outdoors, traveling, photography, ice cream, and she especially loved the beaches of Maine and Florida and the Boston Red Sox. She was happiest surrounded by her family and a multitude of friends.

Eleanor's funeral will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2008 from the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church Street, Clinton, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union Street. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster. A calling hour will be held on Saturday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m., prior to the funeral Mass. Richard,
I was unable to get to the services for your sister, however, I did want to let you know that even old paperboys were thinking of you at this time of sorrow. Wish that I had been able to see you in person.
