Peter Staras Obituary

Peter M. Staras, 91, of Worcester, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2008, at Kindred Hospital, following a long illness.

Peter is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha O. (Kwasniewska) Staras; 3 daughters, Donna Hebert and her husband Norman of Hubbardston, Margareta Cheney and her husband Jay of Northboro, and Ada Dellasanta and her husband David of West Boylston. He also leaves 6 grandchildren, Josh and Jake Greska, Alex and Olivia Cheney, Leah and Mark Dellasanta, and one great-granddaughter, Kylie Greska. He is predeceased by 3 brothers, Stanley, Albert and John Staras.

Peter was born in Lithuania, and moved to the US in 1949. He worked most of his career in engineering at Norton Company and Parker Mfg. He was very active in the Lithuanian community, a founding member of Maronis Park, and an avid pool player. He was a wonderful family man who will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 from 6-8 PM at the Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester. Funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 10 AM at St. John's Church, 44 Temple Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester.
