Katherine Jonis Obituary

Katherine Cinda Jonis, 7-year-old daughter of Jonathan and Jodi Jonis, passed away unexpectedly on November 6, 2008, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage. Born in Singapore in March 2001, Katie and her family moved to Northborough in 2006 where she attended kindergarten at the Proctor Elementary School. Prior to moving to Kuala Lumpur in 2008, Katie and her family resided in Westborough; she attended Fales Elementary School and was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church.

Having lived her short life on both sides of the world, Katie was known and loved by people on two continents. She was an avid skier, played soccer, was a girl scout, gymnast, and most recently was honing her rock-climbing skills in Malaysia. Katie loved arts and crafts and was always creating a new "masterpiece."

She is survived by her parents, Jonathan and Jodi Jonis and brother, Jacob; grandparents: Lois and Dennis Jonis of Northborough, MA, and Helen Sabia of Olympia, WA; aunts and uncles: Kimberly and Ryan Hudson and their son, Collin, of Glastonbury, CT; Peter Sabia of Melrose; Susan Sabia and Ted Lewis of North Andover; Cinda and Joe LeBus of Corpus Christi, TX; and Dannina Sabia and Claudia Wheatley of Olympia, WA.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, November 15, 2008, at 2:00 p.m, at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 64 West Main Street in Westborough. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Katie's name to UUCS of Westborough, PO Box 544, Westborough, MA 01581. For online condolences, please visit

Warm Summer Sun

Warm summer sun,
Shine kindly here,
Warm southern wind,
Blow softly here.
Green sod above,
Lie light, lie light.
Good night, dear heart,
Good night, good night.
