Charles Smith Obituary

Charles F. "Frank" Smith, 73, of 31 Manor Road, died Saturday, November 15, 2008 in Christopher House of Worcester, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 47 years, Joan P. (Gabrielsen) Smith; a son, David J. and his wife, Cheryl L. Smith, and a dearly loved grandson, David Franklin Smith, all of Fairfield, PA; several cousins; and many close friends.

Frank was born in Boston, son of George M. and Dorothy (Densmore) Smith, and resided in Bolton for most of his life. He graduated from Boy's Trade High School, and the Franklin Institute, both of Boston.

A licensed electrician, he worked for Bay State Abrasives of Westborough, Digital Equipment Corp. of Acton, and retired on July 1, 2008 from the Town of Westborough School Department.

He was a US Army National Guard Veteran.

He was a member of the First Parish of Bolton, and an active member and Certified EMT on the Bolton Ambulance Squad for 44 years, and the Bolton Volunteer Fire Department for 46 years.

He was a former wire and smoke detector inspector for the Town of Bolton, and served on various Church and Town boards and committees.

Frank's funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the First Parish of Bolton, 673 Main St. Burial will follow in South Cemetery. Calling hours at the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton, will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2008, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank's memory to: First Parish of Bolton, P.O. Box 250 Bolton, MA 01740; Bolton Volunteer Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 382, Bolton, MA 01740; or the Bolton Volunteer Fire Association, 15 Wattaquadoc Hill Road, Bolton, MA 01740.
