David Rowe Obituary

David Rowe, Sr., 70, of 9 Haven Lane, a former cable television talk show host, died Tuesday, November 11, at St. Francis Home after a long battle with bladder cancer.

He leaves a son, David, Jr., and a granddaughter, Zoya Konjolka, both of New Orleans; two brothers, Earl P., of Bedford, NH, and William G., of Coral Springs, FL; a sister, Geraldine Drake, of Leicester, MA; and nieces and nephews.

David was born in Boston, son of Kathleen (Brennan) and Earl J. Rowe. Upon being confirmed in the Roman Catholic faith, he assumed Peter as his middle name. He graduated from Oxford High School, and attended Worcester State Teachers College. He served in U.S. Army Intelligence, stationed in Japan.

A long-time resident of Worcester, David acted in local plays both on stage and for WICN's radio theater, as well as in independent films. For many years, he hosted and produced public access talk shows, "The Starving Artist" and the award-winning "Dave Rowe Presents."

A visiting hour will be held from 11 to noon on Wednesday, November 19, at Graham Putnam & Mahoney Funeral Parlors, 838 Main St. Burial will be in Mass. Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis Home, 101 Plantation St., Worcester, MA 01604, or to the Central Mass. Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605.
