Ellenor Sears Obituary
Her husband of 62 years, Ernest F. Sears died in 2004. She leaves two sons: David Sears of Waterford, Maine and Howard Sears of Shrewsbury; two daughters: Ellen Kingman of Attleboro, MA and Alice Anderson of Seattle, WA; also survived by four grandchildren: Eric, Kelly, Adam and Drew and five great grandchildren.
Mrs. Sears was born in Worcester, MA, the only child of Charles and Alice (Williams) Howe and lived most of her life in Shrewsbury. She graduated from the Major Howard W. Beale Memorial High School with the Class of 1935.
Ellenor held great pride in her genealogical heritage. She was the 10th generation of the Howe family in Massachusetts and the 7th generation living in Shrewsbury. Ellenor was the 3rd generation to live at the Howe family Lake Street farm.
She was a member of the Wellspring United Methodist Church, the Shrewsbury Grange, the Shrewsbury Historical Society and was a former member of the King's Daughters. Ellenor loved playing the piano, cooking, sewing, gardening and helping others, but she found her greatest enjoyment in her entire family.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mrs. Sears family on Friday, November 21st from 4-7 P.M. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Funeral Services for Ellenor will be held on Saturday, November 22nd at 10 A.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in the family lot in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Association Mass Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472. Dear Ellen, Alice,David,& Howie,
From the first day we all movied into the house across the street from you guys we all hit it off from that day. Your Mom she was great one day Chris & I got home from school no one was home. Your Mom came running over and brought us to your house. Gave us some nice warm cookie from the oven. [Don't tell my Mom but they were so much better then hers.] It must have been the fresh butter, eggs & milk from the farm! She showed me how to sew & do so many other things. I can still hear her yelling at your Dad and you two boys when you would come in from the farm with cow manure on your boots. David was great for that! I could go on for ever but I just want you to know that my family is so very sad for your loss. We don't see you very much at all of each other but you are always in are hearts. Just like your Mom & Dad will alway and have been from day one. We will never forget all the great times or just a hi with a smile. She was a Wouderful Lady! and will be missed very deeply.
