Winifred K. "Winnie" Holewa

Winifred K. "Winnie" (Markuski) Holewa, 83, of Dudley, died Tuesday, November 18, in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester.

She leaves her husband of 63 years, Edwin E. Holewa; a daughter, Edwina E. Holewa of Dudley; a son, Joseph E. Holewa and his wife Judy of Charlton; four grandchildren, Michelle of Dudley, William Borowski and his wife Maria of Millbury, and Laura and Colleen Holewa of Dudley; two great grandchildren, Gianna and Michael Borowski; two step grandchildren, Caitlin and Brian Kiley; a sister, Sophie Desmarais of Fabyan, CT; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Peter Markoska, Victor Markuski and Chester Niecielski.

She was born and raised in Fabyan, CT, daughter of Anthony and Katherine (Niecielski) Markuski. She attended Tourtellotte Memorial High School in North Grosvenordale, CT. She moved to Dudley when she married in 1945.

Mrs. Holewa was an inspector in the packing room at Bates Shoe Company in Webster for many years before she retired.

She was a communicant of Saint Andrew Bobola Church and a weekly adorer at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel in Webster. She also enjoyed attending the Monday night novena to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal at St. Louis Church in Webster.

Among her interests were British comedies and classical rock music. She excelled at cooking.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 22, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., Webster, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster. A calling period will be from 9:15 to l0:15 AM Saturday, Nov. 22, in the funeral home. Donations in her memory may be made to either Food for the Poor, 6401 Lyons Road, Coconut Creek, FL 33073, or to St. Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main St., PO Box 98, Dudley, MA 0l57l-0098.
