Gerald Duclos Obituary

Gerald R. Duclos, 87, of Worcester, a retired accountant, died Friday, November 21. His wife, Helen E. (Baronas) Duclos, died in 1987.

He leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald J. and Linda Duclos of Worcester; three granddaughters, Kimberly Duclos and her companion Brian Girouard, Michelle and Kelly Duclos, all of Worcester; a brother, John P. Duclos of Deland, FL; two brothers-in-law, Pasquale Marziotti of Worcester and John Baronas of Cocoa, FL; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves a very close friend, Gayle Green, whom he's known for nearly twenty years from his avid walking days back in the early 90's, and last but not least, his beloved cat, L'il Star, who loved to sleep in his lap. He was born in Chambly, P.Q., Canada, son of the late Edeas and Arzelia (Bessette) Duclos. He is also predeceased by two brothers and five sisters and their spouses, Ulysses Duclos, Eddie and his wife Yvette Duclos, Noella and her husband Sergius Monty, Simone and her husband George Rondeau, Helene Duclos, Paula and her husband Earl Boileau, and Yvette Duclos. He is also predeceased by one brother-in-law, Arthur Collins, and four sisters-in-law, Ruth Duclos, Grace Baronas, Nellie Collins and Catherine Marziotti. Before coming to Worcester in 1949 he lived in Vermont for 24 years. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Mr. Duclos was an accountant at the Chancery, Diocese of Worcester, for 13 years, retiring in 1985.

Previously he had his own public accounting practice in Worcester for many years. He was a member of St. George's Catholic Church and its Men's Club. He was a committed adorer at St. George Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. Prior to joining St. George's Parish, he was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Church for over 30 years.

He was a volunteer St. Mary's Health Center in Worcester. He was a travel enthusiast, having visited sites of the Marian apparitions in Europe.

The funeral will be held Monday, November 24, from Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, with a Mass at 10:00 am at St. George's Catholic Church, 38 Brattle St. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Mausoleum. Calling hours will be held Sunday, November 23 from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Rev. Rafael Bastidas, SDB, Seminarian Support Program, Salesian Mission Office, 2 Lefevre Lane, Box 30, New Rochelle, NY 10802 or to a seminary of your choice for an increase in vocations to the priesthood.
