Elizabeth Place Obituary

Elizabeth J. Place went to join her beloved husband, George L. Place, Jr. on November 22, 2008, at Overlook Masonic Health Center. Born in Berlin, NH, she moved to Webster upon marrying 58 years ago. She leaves her four children: Nancy Dykeman and husband, Jim, of Gloucester, VA, Pat Nectow and husband, Stuart, of Rye, NY, Rick Place and wife, Mary, of Woodstock, CT, Judy Cook and husband, Randy, of Gilford, NH; and daughter-in-law, Jane Place of Webster.

Betty was an active member of the community serving in many different capacities. She was President of the Hubbard Regional Hospital Guild, a Den Mother and fund raising chair for the local Boy Scout Troop 119, a Friend of the Chester C. Corbin Library and a participant of the Garden Club and the Tuesday Club. Her years of service were rewarded with the presentation of the Woman of the Year Award in 1994. Betty blessed many lives through the years and was known for her love of music, dancing and most especially her family.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Overlook Masonic Home on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Friends of the Chester C. Corbin Library, 2 Lake Street, Webster, MA 01570.

The Robert J. Miller Funeral Home, 366 School St., Webster is assisting Betty's family with arrangements.

Betty was truly one of Webster's outstanding citizens giving generously of her time and support to causes that strengthened the bonds of community - scouting, library, hospital and, of course, family. With her late husband, George, they were a strong team who made a difference in the lives of many others in, and around, Webster. Her life was a wonderful example of love of family and community through service to others.
