Albert Ramstrom Obituary

Albert D. Ramstrom, 70, of Grafton, died on Thursday, November 27, 2008, at UMass Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry J., of 43 years.

Born in Framingham, he was the son of the Robert and Jean (Horne) Ramstrom.

Albert was a graduate of Framingham High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Bentley College, Waltham. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Colorado, where he attained the rank of Sergeant.

While living in Framingham, he served as a town meeting member and a deacon at the Plymouth Congregational Church. After a career in the software industry working for such companies as Raytheon, Data General, and Marcam, he retired in 2005.

He was appreciated by all who knew him for his sense of humor and love of games. He enjoyed spending time on sandy beaches, relaxing by the pool with family and friends, as well as planting a large backyard vegetable garden.

Albert is survived by a son, William D. Ramstrom of Boston; a daughter, Kerstin E. Ramstrom of Boston; a brother, Robert W. and his wife, Faith (Green) Ramstrom of Natick, and their children, Pamela, Donna, and Eric. He was predeceased by a sister, Marilyn I., who died in childhood.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 4th at 11:00 AM at the Plymouth Congregational Church, Framingham Centre, Framingham. Calling hours are Wednesday, December 3rd from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Norton Funeral Home, Union Avenue, Framingham. A private burial will take place at a later date. Donations can be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney Street, Boston, MA 02115.

Dear Sherry, Bill and Kerstin,

Uncle Al is a amazing person that leaves a legacy that we should model ourselves of a outstanding Husband and Father. A courageous man that showed us all how to be a positive spirit in the time of adversity. The memories of the great times together will never pass by.
