Peter Kurda Obituary

Peter F. Kurda, 85, formerly of 20 Oxford Ave., passed away Sunday, November 30, surrounded by his loved ones in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after an extended illness. His wife of 20 years, Maria K. (Wolski) Kurda, died in 1996.

He leaves a brother and sister in Poland and his caregivers, the Palka family of Dudley.

He was born and raised in Poland, son of Stanislaw and Katarzyna (Oko) Kurda. He emigrated to Germany before moving to this area in the early 1950's, to join his aunt here. He later met and married the light of his life, his wife Maria. Theirs was a life of mutual respect, laughter and contentment.

Mr. Kurda worked at Anglo Fabrics Company and at Kunkel Mills, both in Webster, and retired as a foreman.

He was a member of St. Andrew Bobola Church. He enjoyed hunting, watching birds, and tending to his vegetable garden.

Although he missed his dear wife, he saw each day as a a gift and opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. He was always in good spirits and approached life with a smile. He will be remembered by his dear friends and loved ones as a gentle, giving and selfless man who had a great sense of humor. Peter depended on the help of his dear friends, the Palka family, with day to day assistance. He will remain a cherished member of their family.

The funeral will be held Thursday, December 4, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster. Calling hours will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 3, in the funeral home.
