Sophia DiPillo Obituary
She was born in Civitarentenga, Province of L'Aquila, Abruzzo, Italy, on January 10, 1921, the daughter of the late John and the late Mariannina (DeSantis) DiPillo.
Sophie worked 29 years at the Arrow shirt factory in Leominster and 15 years at the Digital Equipment of Marlboro before retiring in 1986.
She was a blessed woman who touched many hearts with her devotion to family and friends. Her kindness will be remembered by both her friends and relatives in the Leominster area as well as those with whom she visited regularly in Italy.
She leaves one sister: Rosetta Mietkiewicz of Millbury; two nieces: Andrea Mietkiewicz of Old Town, ME, Gail Puris of Holden; one nephew: Lester Mietkiewicz of Millbury; and 10 great nieces and nephews. She was especially fond of her great nephew, Yared Weaver of Leominster. She was predeceased by her brother John DiPillo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 11:00 a.m in St. Anna's Church, 194 Lancaster St., Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Leo's Cemetery.
A Calling Hour will be held Wednesday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m at the Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to St. Anna's Church, 194 Lancaster St., Leominster, MA 01453.

To Sophie's family -
I was saddened to learn of your beloved family member's passing. I had only met Sophie a few times, but my father always spoke fondly of her. She was a great friend to him, and to all of my family. She was instrumental in helping coordinate an impromptu family reunion on our trip to Italy, and the village our families were from. My sincere condolences.
