Jean Shannon Obituary
She was predeceased by her father, Henry Shannon; her mother, Margaret (Griffin) Shannon; her brothers: Henry and Robert; and her Aunt, Agnes Griffin.
She is survived by her niece and nephews: Kathleen Shannon of Salisbury, Md., Robert, Jr. and wife Kathleen of Pasco, Wash. and Kevin and wife Heather of Los Angeles, Calif.; her great niece and nephews: Kassie, Kayj, Collin and Robbie; her sister-in-law, Kaye Shannon of Tampa, Fla.; and her close friend, Joan Talbot of Worcester.
Jean was a lifetime resident of Worcester and a long time second grade teacher at the Greendale School in Worcester.
She was a graduate of the former High School of Commerce and Framingham State College. She earned her M. Ed. from Worcester State College.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, the National Education Association, the Massachusetts Teachers Association and the Educational Association of Worcester.
Jean enjoyed living in New England making annual trips to Cape Cod and Vermont. She had a sense of humor that lent her a unique perspective on life and she will be missed by her family and friends.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, December 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral will be held from the funeral home on Saturday, December 13 with a Mass as Noon in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 25 Fales St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.

God Bless Those Who Mourn. I remember Ms. Shannon from my days at Greendale School and then again when my children went there. She was a wonderful person and the best teacher. She'll be missed.
