Paul Mountain Obituary

Paul B. Mountain left his pain behind early on the morning of December 8, 2008, leaving the memory of his warm love with those he left behind.

He was born in Worcester on October 15, 1944, son of Harold and Lillian (Greene) Mountain and grew up on "Airport Hill" near Tatnuck Square. He and his first wife, Susan lived in Westboro and later North Brookfield. When his family was young, he served in the Army Reserves and then earned an Associates Degree in Electronic Engineering from Worcester Junior College and attended Worcester Industrial Technical Institute and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Most of his career was spent in Plant Engineering in the wire industry in Worcester including 20+ years of service at GF Wright Steel & Wire Company and then at Concord Wire. He recently retired from H&R 1871 in Gardner where he shared some of his vast knowledge and made more good friends.

He has lived in West Brookfield for the past 15 years with his wife and best friend Gladys Mountain. Together they helped to raise 4 beautiful children into adulthood, who in turn have blessed them with 11 grandchildren and 1 1/2 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his son Thomas and wife Reagan of Wake Forest, NC and their beautiful children, October, Mercy, Isabel and Keeper; daughter Rebecca Mountain of Orange, the true love of his life; son George Nolette IV of North Brookfield, his wife Tina and sons Seth and Jacob; and daughter Sherry Sardi, her husband Chris and children, Amanda, Heather, Shannon, Ian and Amellia of Eastford, CT. He also leaves two brothers, William of Florida and Maine, Peter of Worcester; and sister, Linda of Worcester along with their families. He was predeceased by three sisters, Joan, Jill and Jean.

All who knew Paul will remember his kind and gentle spirit, unwavering honesty and patience. We have been blessed knowing him.

A Funeral Service for Paul will be held Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield. Gentle, loving, kind, PATIENT, unselfish, thoughtful, smart, PATIENT, handy, PATIENT, quiet, calm, PATIENT, funny, PATIENT, large hearted, PATIENT.
These are just some of the things I loved about him.
He helped me to look at myself without being judgemental. Always showing PATIENCE.
Now, largely due to him, I am able to look at myself and be ok with who I have become.
I miss him so much.

Our hearts goes out to Gladys and the entire family. We will always remember all the good times with Paul and Gladys. We emulated the relationship Paul and Gladys shared, they were indeed the best of friends! We always enjoyed Paul's company when they would entertain us at their home or when we entertained at our home. He was a good man and we are blessed to have been fortunate enough to be able to say he was a good friend. We will miss him deeply and his awesome smile. We are here for you Gladys, contact us anytime, we love you.

Crossing the Bar

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.
