Daniel DiStefano Obituary

Daniel M. DiStefano, 85, of Worcester, passed away Friday, December 12, 2008, in his home, after being stricken ill. Dan's wife of 56 years, Catherine T. (Gracia) DiStefano, passed away in 2003.

He is survived by his two devoted children, Michael DiStefano and his wife Maureen of Grafton, Daniel DiStefano and his wife Linda of Worcester; five cherished grandchildren, Daniel, David, Joseph, Michael and Kara; a great grandson, Nicholas; many nieces, nephews and friends. Two brothers, John and Santo DiStefano and six sisters, Elizabeth Zingarelli, Angelina Azzarone, Michelina DiStefano, Rose Meserve, Mary Devio and Josephine DiStefano all pre deceased him.

Dan was born in Worcester, his parents were the late Michael and Lucrezia (Clementi) DiStefano. He attended Commerce High School, and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade. He has lived here all his life.

Dan worked more than 39 years in the plastics industry for Worcester Molded Plastics, DiPerro Plastics and Produx Inc. retiring in 1980.

Dan was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, the Columbus Civic Association, its golf league and the Pope John Council XXIII Knights of Columbus, a former member of The Worcester Lodge #168 Sons of Italy, and the Worcester Lodge of Elks. He loved to Golf, enjoyed hunting and fishing and time spent on Cape Cod, but most of all he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren and his great grandson, Nicholas.

The funeral will be held Monday, December 15th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial next to his wife will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Monday, December 15th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Speen St., Framingham, 01710.
