Mary Masiello Obituary

Mary B. (Piontek) Masiello, 96, of Pakachoag Village and formerly of Worcester, died Saturday, December 13th at home, after an illness. Her husband, Alphonse Masiello died in 1969.

She leaves her son, Anthony D. Masiello of Auburn; her daughter-in-law, Pat Masiello of Auburn; her grandson, Anthony J. Masiello and his wife Kelly of Auburn and granddaughter, the late Donna (Masiello) Layte, wife of James Layte, formerly of Worcester; her five great grandchildren, Kristen, and James Layte, Allyssa, Isabella and Benjamin Masiello; her brother-in-law, Dr. Carlo Masiello and his wife Helen of Worcester; as well as many Piontek and Masiello nieces and nephews, and her many friends. She was predeceased by her five siblings, Vincent Piontek, Adelka Dobroski, Pearl Novak, Sophie Ritacco, and Natalie Niles.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Anthony Piontek, and lived most of her life in Worcester before moving to Auburn more than 30 years ago.

Mrs. Masiello worked as a clerk in the Law Library of the Worcester County Court House before retiring. Previously, she had worked as a spooler for the former Bell Company, Worcester.

She was a member of Saint Joseph's Parish in Auburn. She enjoyed bingo, was an avid reader, loved word puzzles, and had created many beautiful afghans for her family over the years.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on SUNDAY, December 14th from 3-5 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. Her funeral will be held on Monday, December 15th from the funeral home with a Mass celebrated at 10 AM in Saint Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford St. Auburn. Burial will follow in Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the VNA Care Hospice, Inc, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608 or to Special Olympics Massachusetts, Attn: Donations, 450 Maple Street, Building 1, Danvers, MA 01923.
