Mary T. Granlund

Mary T. (Ferrie) Granlund, 94, of Worcester, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2008 in the Jewish Health Care Center.

Her husband of 43 years, John Granlund, died in 1977.

She leaves three daughters, Patricia A. Griffin of Rutland, Mary A. Lemieux and her husband Walter of Auburn, and Margaret of Utah; a sister-in-law Kay Ferrie of Worcester, many cousins including Jean McKeon of Auburn, 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her son-in-law Daniel J. Griffin died in 2001.

She was born in Glasgow, Scotland, daughter of Patrick and Mary (Byrne) Ferrie, and moved to Worcester during her childhood.

She enjoyed traveling, Celtic music festivals and casinos.

Mary's family wishes to thank the many healthcare workers who provided skilled and compassionate care to her in recent years including Dr. Trugman, Katie Juchno, Alicia and the entire staff on the fifth floor at the Jewish Health Care Center.

There will be a calling hour Tuesday, Dec. 16 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Bernard's Church, 228 Lincoln St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.
