Sophie Demarski Obituary

Sophie M. (Caika) Demarski, 91, of 445 Lake Ave, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2008 in her home. Her husband, Frank L. Demarski died in 1985.

She leaves three sons: Leonard F. Demarski of Worcester, with whom she made her home, Robert P. Demarski and his wife, Mary, of Worcester and Edward F. Demarski of Worcester; a sister, Irene DiPadua of Shrewsbury; six grandchildren: Jeffrey, Kara Ann, Keith, Brian, Edward and Michael; six great-grandchildren: William, Alex, Steven, Matthew, Kathryn and Benjamin and several nephews and nieces. A son, John J. Demarski of Worcester, died in 2000. She was also predeceased by two brothers and three sisters: Sigmond Caika, Stanley Caika, twins Charlotte Chaplis and Josephine Setterlund and Frances Kaminski. She was born in Worcester, a daughter of Frank and Josephine (Piasta) Caika and lived her all her life. She was educated in Worcester Public Schools.

Mrs. Demarski was a caterer 20 years for Kendall Catering Co., Fitchburg. She also worked for Chase Paper Co. She was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church.

Sophie loved spending time with her family, living on the lake and gardening.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, December 18 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesday, December 17 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Aunt Sophie was my great Aunt. My grandmother Stacia Kilmon Paradise was her cousin. My grandmother's mother Mary and Aunt Sophie's mother Josephine were sisters on the Piasta side. I spent time with her as a child. I remember her as the nice lady who lived by the lake.
