Dear Jonathan, Shayna, Eli & Netanya

I am so sorry to hear about Michele! My name is Ann Essensa (Schmitz) and I went to U Mass with Michele. There was a group of us, Beth & Michele, Margie & Cheryl, and Arlene & I who were friends for years at U Mass. We had some wonderful times and the memories are great! When I think of U Mass I always think of Michele - she was so sweet and one of the kindest people I have ever met! When Margie wrote me to let me know about Michele, I was so sad, but I can't help but smile whenever I think of her. Now due to this sad news, 4 of us are getting together at U Mass for a mini reunion and we will be thinking of Michele the whole time.

I also have a picture (it's in really rough shape) but I will send it to you. It was Halloween and we decided to dress up as the 4 Musketeers - we had such a great time and we looked great! Michele was one of the masterminds behind our costumes.

She will be very missed and in my prayers! Ann

Dear Jonathan and children, Mr. and Mrs. Grant, and Michael, I am so sorry to hear of Michele's passing. I was Michele's roommate for several years at UMASS, Beth Bassett. Michele was so very sweet and kind. She made such a difference in my life! I had come from a small town to this huge campus where life was so crazy at times. Michele was my rock! So steady and so nurturing. I'm sure it was her that kept me sane! When I remember her I see her smiling and I can hear her laugh....she had the greatest laugh....and such a sense of humor! She is truly one of the kindest people I have ever known. Several years ago, Michele, Ann Schmitz Essensa and I got together in Springfield for lunch.. a little reunion. We had such great fun remembering old times and had so many laughs. I'm so glad we had that gathering! I wish there had been more of them. Michele shared photos of her lovely family and spoke with such love and pride about each of you. I know you must all miss her terribly. My heart goes out to you and I will hold you in my thoughts and prayers.

To the Grant & Epstein Families - -
No bond is as great as that between a parent and child. The strength you need to pull you through will come from the memories of Michele and from the love of your friends and family surrounding you now during this time of sadness.
I am sorry that I could not make the trip with Jay, but you're all in my thoughts and my deepest condolences are with each of you now and in the days ahead.
