Elisabeth Wells Obituary

Elisabeth A. (Wilkinson) Wells, 32, fell asleep in Jesus June 19, 2009 at home after battling breast cancer for nearly two years. Also known as Betsy she was the beloved wife and "best buddy" of her husband John Wells, the love of his life since they first met at age 13. She was the devoted mother of her two beautiful sons, Robert, 2 ½ and Samuel 14 months, the daughter of Leslie and Suzanne (Belisle) Wilkinson, the younger sister and best friend of Sarah Page and her husband Kevin, and sister to her big brother Daniel Wilkinson who always made her laugh all of Westborough. Elisabeth was born July 9, 1976 in Worcester and lived most of her life in Westborough attending school there through grade 8. Betsy attended Norfolk County Agricultural High School in Walpole where she studied horticulture and was a standout athlete winning many cross country track awards leading her school to 3 straight years of cross country championships. She also attended many FFA state and national conventions winning several awards in floral design. Elisabeth was devoted to her Lord being baptized into his saving name April 1, 1995 at the Christadelphian Ecclesia in Worcester. She served her Lord there as an accomplished pianist, organist and taught the young people's group with John administering to their needs for many years. Many of these young people owe their devotion and dedication to the Lord to Elisabeth & John's hours of tireless service and their "listening ears". Elisabeth earned an Associates Degree in Business Administration at Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester and was a talented floral designer working at local floral shops including The Plant Bazaar and Mugford's Flowers both in Westborough. Betsy's heart was always with the family greenhouse business, Hi Hill Farm. After marrying John in 1996 they began their life work together working side by side building their business Wishing Wells Perennials and Pumpkins in Westborough. She loved being outdoors working with God's creation to bring beauty into everyone's life designing gardens for many local people. Betsy's smile and bouncing personality persisted even during the difficult days of her cancer treatments which was exemplified by her tireless effort to plant a beautiful perennial garden at The Peter Levine Cancer Center in Worcester on a raw and cold day last November just so she could bring happiness to other cancer patients being treated there. Her faith never waivered and she now sleeps awaiting her beloved Lord's return and that great resurrection morn of joy and gladness. Betsy's family wishes to thank all those who have so lovingly cared for her and John's needs during this extremely difficult time including; Her brothers and sisters of the Worcester ecclesia for their helping hands and daily prayers, the women of St. Luke's Parish providing hot meals twice weekly, those from "In your Shoes" who helped get the perennial areas and ready for sale this spring and all who have just stopped by at the farm spending an hour or two helping with the daily work and especially those who continue to help care for her 2 precious little boys Robert & Sam. Donations may be made in her memory to The Worcester Christadelphian Ecclesia, 218 Greenwood St. Worcester, MA 01607, earmarked Benevolent Fund. These donations will be used to establish a trust fund for the children. The family suggests anyone sending flowers contact Mugford's Flowers in Westborough where Betsy loved to design.

I remember going to Betsy's birthday party when I was young. It's one of the few that vividly stick out in my mind. She was always such a nice, friendly kid and although I didn't know her as an adult, I am sure she was just the same. She will be greatly missed in the community.

We always enjoyed Elisabeth's smile when we visited Hi Hill Farm for our Pumpkin Field Trip Walk from the Methodist Preschool. She and John were always wonderful to the kids. And I always enjoyed walking through the garden plants and talking with her to buy my plants for the yard. She will be greatly missed but will be with our Lord in a wonderful place. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Sincerely, Cathie Achorn and family
