Congetta Kelleher Obituary

Congetta "Connie" J. (Leone) Kelleher, 96, of Marlborough and Westborough died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at UMass Memorial Healthcare, 119 Belmont St., Worcester after an illness.

She was the wife of the late and former Mayor of Marlborough Frank H. Kelleher.

She is survived by her brother, Anthony D. Leone of Larchmont, NY and her sister, Theresa M. Latino of Holden and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the last Thomas J. Leone, Pasquale J. Leone, Jennie J. Lanciault and Nicolena R. Migliorelli.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Antonio and Giovannina (Sceretta) Leone and has lived most of her life in Marlborough.

She was a graduate of North High School in Worcester and also graduated from Worcester State College with a Degree in Elementary Education.

Upon graduating, she became a teacher in the West Boylston School System and later in the Worcester Public School System.

In the late 1940s, she and her late husband started and successfully built the Frank H. Kelleher Insurance Agency of Marlborough.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, a former member of the Newman Catholic Women's Club, Friends of the Marlborough Public Library, and the Worcester State College Alumni Association. She also was a past member of the Marlborough Democratic City Committee. She volunteered at the Marlborough Hospital for many years in the gift shop and also co chaired, with her husband, the Building Fund for Marlborough Hospital.

Funeral will be held Monday from the John P. Rowe Funeral Home Inc., 57 Main St., Marlborough at 8 A.M. with a Mass at 9 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Marlborough.

Calling hours at the funeral home are today 2 to 5 P.M.

Flowers may be sent or memorial donations may be made to either the ARCHway Inc. Residential Home for Autistic Adults, c/o Sonya Esber, Executive Director, 77 Mulberry St., Leicester, MA 01524 or the the Arthritis Foundation, Chatham Center-Suite 450, 29 Crafts St., Newton, MA 02458.

Aunt Connie was a loving and caring aunt to all her nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed.
