Georgia Pagonis Obituary

Georgia T. (Makris) Pagonis, 79, of Worcester, died Wednesday, August 22nd, in St. Vincent Hospital.

She leaves her husband of 58 years, John J. Pagonis; 2 sons, Chris J. and Thomas A. Pagonis; a daughter, Maria Soukalopoulos, all of Worcester; 2 brothers, Evans and Paul Makris; 3 sisters, Mahi Dionisiou, Lali Michelis and Vaso Anagnostopoulos, all of Greece; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a son, James Pagonis and several brothers and sisters, including Bishop Dimitrios of Olympus (Makris), former pastor of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church.

She was born in Glossa, Skopelou, Greece, the daughter of Thomas and Eleni (Lioliou) Makris and lived here many years. She was a machine operator at Robinson Thread Company, retiring in 1980.

Mrs. Pagonis was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and the Daughters of Penelope.

The funeral is Monday, August 27th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a service at 10:00 A.M. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, August 26th from 2:00 until 5:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Contributions may be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
