Catherine Faneuff Obituary

Catherine Florence (Narel) Faneuff, 96, a long-time resident of Auburn died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2007 at Life Care of Auburn.

She leaves two sons Roy W. of North Oxford and Ronald R. and his wife Eileen of Auburn. She leaves 6 grandchildren, Denise of Worcester, Steven of Auburn, Jeffrey of Ashland, William of Hampden, Kenneth of Lakeland, Florida and Keith of Rindge, New Hampshire and Brian, of Auburn, ME 10 great grandchildren, Nick, Angie, Kyle, Sarah, Benjamin, Lucas and Christopher, Claire, Madison, and Roderick. She was predeceased by her husband Walter O. in 1969, her daughter Shirley Mardirosian in 1993, her parents Louis and Catherine (Urbanowski) Narel and her brother Frankie Narel.

Katie was born on June 19th, 1911 in Webster, MA. She graduated from Catholic High School. She married Walter in 1933 and moved to his family farm in Auburn. She worked hard on the farm and was lovingly known as "the tomato lady" selling vegetables in town. After the farm was sold and her husband died she worked as a sales clerk in downtown Worcester department stores. When her son moved back to Auburn she easily took to helping in raising and caring for two of her grandchildren.

Family was everything to Katie. She loved holiday meals at her home and playing with the children, especially giving extra treats. She had a lot of faith in God and was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She will be missed dearly, especially her wonderful sense of humor and her old adages and words of wisdom.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, October 1st from 5 to 8 pm in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Katie's Funeral will be held Tuesday from the funeral home with a Mass celebrated at 10 am in St. Joseph's Church, 189 North Oxford Street, Auburn. She will then be laid to rest in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
