Arthur Poirier Obituary

Arthur W. Poirier, 63, of Southbridge, died suddenly, Saturday, September 29, 2007, at Harrington Memorial Hospital in Southbridge, following a brief illness.

He was the husband of Marsha (Stevens) Poirier, to whom he had been married to for 38 years this past Friday.

He was born in Worcester, the son of Claire (Fegreus) Poirier of Grafton, and of the late Antonio Poirier.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by four children, Gabrielle Poirier of Watertown, Brendan Poirier, Tighe Poirier and Devon Poirier, all of Southbridge; two brothers, Louis Poirier of Holden and John Poirier of Grafton; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Poirier was a graduate of Auburn High School in 1961 and attended Worcester Boy's Trade. He worked as a self-employed finish carpenter for many years, and for the past 5 years, worked as a construction supervisor for Curtis K. Abbott Construction Company in Charlton. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed photography, skiing, cooking, the Red Sox, all types of sporting events, vacationing in Deer Isle, ME, and most of all, spending time with his family. He served with U.S. Navy in the early 1960s.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2007, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton Street, Southbridge, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church, 263 Hamilton St., Southbridge. Burial will take place at a later date. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 2nd, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St Mary's Church Building Fund, 263 Hamilton St., Southbridge, MA 01550, or to Harrington Memorial Hospital Building Fund, 100 South St., Southbridge, MA 01550.
