Jacek Rzeznikiewicz Obituary

Jacek (Jack) Rzeznikiewicz, 59, of Hyannis passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at home surrounded by family after a brief battle with Cancer.

Jacek leaves his wife of 37 years, Eleanor (Donnelly) Rzeznikiewicz; 3 daughters, Kris Rzeznikiewicz of Worcester, Eren Malpass, her husband Brian and daughter Ireland of Auburn, and Collen Rzeznikiewicz, her fiancée, Al Couture and son, Jedrek Rzeznikiewicz of Hyannis; a brother, George Rzeznikiewicz of Templeton; and many relatives in Poland.

He was raised and lived in the Cherry Valley section of Leicester for many years before retiring to Hyannis. He graduated from St. Peters High School in 1965 before serving in the US Navy. He earned his Associates degree in Criminal Justice from Quinsigamond Community College and also attended Worcester State College. He retired from the Worcester Police Department after 29 years of service.

He loved to cook for family and friends and worked at several different establishments on the Cape. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and boating on the Elma III and the Seahook. He was a member of the MA Retired Police Officers Association and the Sons of Erin.

Services will be held on Tuesday, October 9th with calling hours from 8:30-9:30 at Doane Beal & Ames, 160 West Main Street, Hyannis followed by a 10:00 Mass at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery in Bourne.

A memorial celebration will be held on Sunday, October 21st from 2:00 - 6:00 at the Marine Corps League, 181 Lake Ave, Worcester for friends and family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Templeton Development Center, 212 Freight Shed Road, Baldwinville, MA 01436 phone (978) 939-2161.

Thanks for the memories of good fishing and great friendship!
Even when times were tough -Jack's sense of humor carried the day. (when swamped and going down - he inquired of the ferry passengers passing by as he clung to his boat " does anyone have any Grey Poupon?" What a great man. He will be missed.
